We heard these shamisen musicians perform at the Atsuta Shrine festival. Both men and women played in this ensemble and they added percussion. Professionals and amateurs keep the traditional songs alive. Shamisen music changes rhythm and time frequently, making it hard to score. Unfortunately we don't know if current performers truly follow Edo traditions.
